PRIVACY STATEMENT

  1. PRIVACY POLICY

Christian Doppler Forschungsgesellschaft (hereinafter: CDG) attaches great importance to the protection of your privacy when processing personal data and to the security of this data. We treat personal data collected during your visit to our website confidentially and process it only in accordance with the applicable data protection regulations.

We want you as a user of our services to understand how we use information and what options you have to protect your data.

This privacy statement tells you what information we collect, for what purposes we collect it, and what we do with it. Because this is important, we ask you to read the following information carefully. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at datenschutz@cdg.ac.at.

Our privacy policy explains what we do:

  • What information we collect and for what reason
  • How we use this information
  • What options we offer, including how information can be accessed and how it can be updated

 

2. USE OF COOKIES   

a. What are cookies? 

Cookies are small text modules that are stored by a website on the visitor's device. Many cookies contain a so-called cookie ID. A cookie ID is a unique identifier of the cookie. It consists of a string of characters through which web pages and servers can be assigned to the specific Internet browser in which the cookie was stored. This enables the visited websites and servers to distinguish the individual browser of the person concerned from other Internet browsers that contain other cookies. A particular internet browser can be recognized and identified by its unique cookie ID.

Through the use of cookies, CDG can provide more user-friendly services to the users of this website, which would not be possible without the setting of cookies.

By means of a cookie, the information and offers on our website can be optimised in the interests of the user.

There are 3 categories of cookies

  • Cookies that are absolutely necessary to ensure basic functions of the website
  • Functional cookies to ensure website performance
  • Targeted cookies to improve the user experience

b. Which cookies are set by the CDG?

i. CDG Portal

 Research units, board members, reviewers and interested parties can register for the CDG portal via our website. The CDG-Portal offers the possibility of document exchange.

In order to us our portal, you must register by entering your e-mail address, a password of your choice and your freely selectable login name. We use the so-called Double-Opt-In procedure for registration, i.e. your registration is only complete after you have confirmed your registration by clicking on the link in the confirmation e-mail sent to you for this purpose. If your confirmation is not received within 24 hours, your registration will be automatically deleted from our database. It is obligatory to provide the aforementioned data; you can provide all further information voluntarily by using our portal. You can administer and change your data. 

If you use our portal, we process your data within the framework of fulfilling our contractual obligations on the basis of the legal basis pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 lit b GDPR. Your data will be stored for up to one year after the end of the contract and then deleted.

Other participants of the CDG portal will not receive any information about you. Your login name and e-mail address are not visible to other participants. Access to the documents in the CDG portal is granted by the CDG according to a defined process.

On our website cookies are used in connection with the member login of the CDG Portal. This way it is recognized, for example, that a user has already entered a login name and password.

ii. Statistical evaluation

 The following data is collected during the visit to the website:

  • Request (file name of the requested file)
  • Browser type/ version (e.g. Internet Explorer 8.0)
  • Browser language (Example: German)
  • Operating system used (e.g. Windows Vista)
  • inner resolution of the browser window
  • screen resolution
  • javascript activation
  • Cookies On / Off
  • colour depth
  • Referrer URL (the previously visited page)
  • IP address - will be deleted immediately
  • Time of access
  • clicks
iii. Google Analytics

We use functions of the web analysis service Google Analytics. Provider is Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.

Google Analytics uses targeted cookies.

You can prevent the collection of data generated by the cookie and related to your use of the website and the processing of this data by Google by downloading and installing a browser plug-in. (http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en)

c. Functional limitations without cookies

If you do not generally allow us to use cookies, certain functions and features will not work as expected. In particular, login will not work.

You can delete cookies that are already on your computer at any time. The procedure for this varies depending on the browser, please refer to the browser instructions for more information (under "Help" in the browser menu).

 

3. USE OF DATA COLLECTED BY US

We use the data collected within the scope of our services to provide, maintain, protect and improve our services, to develop new services and to protect the CDG and our users.

When you contact CDG, we process your data for the purpose of contacting you.

We use information collected through cookies and other technologies such as pixel tags to improve your user experience and the overall quality of our services. One of the products we use for this purpose in our own services is, as described, Google Analytics. For example, storing your preferred language setting allows us to display our services in your preferred language.

Before we use information about areas other than those listed in this privacy statement, we will ask for your consent.

We process personal data on our servers located in Germany.

 

4. TRANSPARENCY AND CONTROL

In order to address your individual privacy concerns best, it is our goal to clarify what information we collect. You can view, review and update the information entered into your account at any time.

You can also set your browser to block all cookies, including those associated with our services, or to display a message when a cookie is set by us. Please note, however, that if you have disabled cookies on your computer, our services may not function properly. For example, we may not be able to save your preferred language setting.

 

5. ACCESSING AND UPDATING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

Whenever you use our services, we strive to give you access to your personal information. If this data is inaccurate, we will endeavour to provide you with opportunities to update or delete it quickly. For this purpose please contact datenschutz@cdg.ac.at. Under certain circumstances, there may still be a legal obligation to store your data internally following a change or deletion request. If your personal data is updated, we may require proof of your identity before implementing your request.

If we can grant access to and correction of data, this is generally free of charge, except in cases where this would require a disproportionate effort. We strive to provide our services in a manner that protects the data from accidental or deliberate destruction.

 

6. INFORMATION DISCLOSED BY US

In principle, we do not pass on any personal data to companies, organisations or persons outside CDG. Should personal data be passed on, this will only take place in one of the following cases:

a. With your consent

We will share personal information with companies, organizations or individuals outside CDG if we have your permission to do so. Your consent may be revoked at any time.

b. For processing by other parties

We make personal data available to our partners, other trustworthy companies or persons who process them. This is done on the basis of our privacy policy and other appropriate confidentiality and security measures.

c. For legal reasons

We will disclose personal information to companies, organizations or individuals outside CDG if we believe in good faith that access to, use, retention or disclosure of such information is reasonably necessary to

  • comply with any applicable law, regulation or legal process or comply with an enforceable government order.
  • Enforce applicable terms of use, including investigating possible violations.
  • Detect, prevent or otherwise combat fraud, security deficiencies or technical problems.
  • Protect the rights, property or safety of CDG, our users or the public from harm to the extent permitted or required by law.

 

7. DATA SECURITY

We make every effort to protect the CDG and our users from unauthorized access to or alteration, disclosure or destruction of data. In particular:

  • we encrypt many of our services using SSL/TLS.
  • We review our collection, storage and processing practices, including physical security measures, to protect against unauthorized access to systems.
  • We restrict access to personal data to CDG employees and contractors who are required to know the data in order to process it for us and who are subject to strict confidentiality obligations and who face disciplinary action under labor, administrative and/or criminal law if they fail to comply with these obligations.

 

8. SCOPE OF APPLICATION OF THE PRIVACY POLICY

Our privacy policy applies to all services offered on our website.

Our Privacy Policy does not apply to services offered by other companies or individuals, including products or websites that appear in search results, websites that may include CDG services, or other websites linked to our services. Our Privacy Policy does not cover the handling of information by other companies or organizations that advertise our services and may use cookies, pixel tags and other technologies to provide and offer relevant advertisements.

 

9. RIGHTS OF THE AFFECTED

Due to the legal data protection regulations you are entitled to extensive rights concerning your data. You can exercise these rights by sending an e-mail to datenschutz@cdg.ac.at. These include in particular:

a. Right to information

Upon request, CDG will provide you with comprehensive information on all data stored about you by CDG within the statutory period. In addition to the personal data, this information also includes the purpose and type of processing.

b. Right to rectification

You have a right vis-à-vis the CDG to have your personal data corrected, supplemented or amended at any time. We may require proof of your identity before we can exercise this right.

c. Right to Data Transfer

You have the right, insofar as this is technically possible, to have all data about you, which are stored by CDG, transferred to another company.

d. Right to deletion

 Upon your request, CDG will delete all personal data relating to you, which is stored at CDG within the legally prescribed period. If there is a legal storage obligation, the data will only be deleted after this period has expired. These data will be blocked internally for further use.

e. Right to objection

If we process your data on the basis of legitimate interest, you have the right to object to data processing if your particular situation gives rise to reasons for doing so. These reasons must be weighed against the reasons in favour of data processing.

 

10. REVOCATION

You can revoke your consent to the collection and processing of your data as well as your registration at any time with effect for the future in whole or in part. Until the time of revocation, your data will be processed lawfully. In this case, we will immediately delete your data to the extent requested by you or block it from further use. To do this, please contact us at datenschutz@cdg.ac.at.

 

11. STORAGE

Your data will be stored for as long as is necessary to provide our services. Should it be necessary to store your data for a longer period of time due to legal regulations, it will be stored until this period expires.

 

12. CHANGES

 Our privacy policy may change from time to time. All changes to this privacy statement will be posted by us on this page.
