CD Laboratory for Model-Based Control of Complex Test Bed Systems

Gesamtfahrzeug-Prüfstand: Mit verbesserten online mitgerechneten Modellen kann der Prüfling noch realistischer belastet werden.

This CD Laboratory is concerned with the modelling, simulation and control of complex test bench systems. Real-time simulation models and robust control concepts for applications in the automotive and semiconductor sectors are being researched.

Test benches are increasingly being used in industry to facilitate the development and testing of new products, such as powertrains in motor vehicles. The test bench must be designed in such a way that it reacts and acts on the test specimen in the same way as its usual environment. To achieve this, simulation models are required that realistically simulate the behaviour of this environment. Furthermore, robust control concepts are required in order to correctly model the effect of the environment on the test object. The design of the control concepts is based on structurally simple mathematical models of the test bench - this is referred to as model-based control. In order to minimise the number of sensors used, so-called observers are used, which reconstruct non-measurable variables on the basis of mathematical models. Particular attention is paid to the robustness of the control and monitoring algorithms used with regard to disturbance variables that are constantly present in practical use.
