New JR Centre to protect people, livestock and vehicles

14.04.2023: In order for machines and algorithms to be able to "see" our real world by means of multimedia sensor systems and to react to it ("computer vision"), comprehensible models must be generated for them, which have to take into account all aspects of the environment relevant to the application, but at the same time must not overwhelm the hardware used with their complexity: A real balancing act, for which further basic research is essential.

This is precisely the area in which Mario Döller, Rector of the FH Kufstein Tirol and now also Head of JR Centre, and his team at the Josef Ressel Centre for Multimedia analysis in the mobility domain are working: Their research, supported by commercial partners Bernard Technologies GmbH and Inno-Cube GmbH, will make an important contribution to exploiting the enormous potential of computer vision in areas as diverse as traffic guidance systems, accident and crime control or cattle herd monitoring!

Cutting the symbolic red ribbon (from left to right): Commercial partner Managing Directors Stefan Schwarz (Bernard Technologies) and Helmut Senfter (Inno-Cube), CDG Vice President and BMAW Head of Department Ulrike Unterer, FH Rector and Head of Centre Mario Döller, Provincial Councillor Cornelia Hagele and FH Managing Director Thomas Madritsch.
