Max Hodapp, Senior Scientist at the CD Laboratory for Digital Material Design Guidelines for Avoiding Alloy Embrittlement, has been awarded an ERC Starting Grant worth €1.5 million to set up his own working group. The CDG extends its warmest congratulations!
The content focuses on AI-supported models for the targeted and faster research of new materials, such as high-entropy alloys, which can be both particularly strong and deformable. Even neural networks reach their limits here because they are extremely computationally and data-intensive. In his newly funded project, Dr. Hodapp is therefore focusing on tensor networks, AI models that can represent large amounts of data more without losing accuracy.
This is an important step toward innovative high-performance materials for the technologies of tomorrow.
