When objects in the physical world - from smartphones to refrigerators - connect to each other via networks such as the internet, we talk about the "Internet of Things" ("IoT"). Since hardware-related limitations often mean that the security technologies that are standard for e.g. desktop PCs cannot be applied here, security is a particularly important topic in this area: Therefore, the team of the new JR Centre led by Head of Centre Pascal Schöttle (pictured), supported by commercial partners Innsbrucker Kommunalbetriebe Aktiengesellschaft and ITSEC GmbH, works towards enabling an automated security evaluation in order to systematically, reliably and, ideally, completely automatically evaluate the security of a wide variety of IoT devices!
