New CD Laboratory sets its sights on interfaces

Interfacial reactions occur where structures of different aggregate states (e.g. solid and liquid) meet: understanding and consciously using them at the atomic level holds a lot of potential for areas such as the semiconductor and steel industries, for example to prevent corrosion. To this end, Head of Laboratory Markus Valtiner and his team, supported by commercial partners Infineon Technologies Austria AG and voestalpine Stahl GmbH, are working on a synergistic experimental and theoretical toolkit to take a significant step towards a general molecular understanding of complex reactive surface and interface processes!
